DPS names boats after two fallen troopers, one was Dale Taylor who was stationed in Sabine County

The Texas Department of Public Safety has named two tactical marine units after state troopers who lost their lives in the line of duty. One of them was Corporal Willie Dale Taylor who lived in Pineland and was assigned to Sabine County. Taylor, who had been a trooper since 1962, was killed on May 19th, 1990 when his parked patrol car was struck from behind by another vehicle. The other man was Trooper Billy Jack Zachary. He was stationed in Monahans and was struck and killed by a truck on January 1st, 2006 while he was on a traffic stop. According to DPS, one of the boats will be operated in the Galveston Bay area and the other boat will be operated in the Rio Grande Valley area.
