CAMERON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - State police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened Wednesday morning on La. 27 near Solley Baker Road.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, the crash happened shortly before 8:30 a.m., claiming the life of 46-year-old William Rester of DeRidder.
The preliminary investigation indicates Rester was driving a Toyota C-HR north on La. 27 when a Nissan Pathfinder was traveling south on the highway. For reasons still under investigation, LSP said the Toyota crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and struck the Nissan head-on.
Rester was properly restrained and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died, troopers said.
The driver of the Nissan was also properly restrained, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
LSP said standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
