The Louisiana Supreme Court has reversed its previous decision on the multi-murder conviction of Darrell James Robinson and has now reinstated his death sentence.
Robinson had shot and killed a family of four in 1996 in the Poland Community. The victims were Billy Lambert, his sister, Carol Hooper, Hooper’s daughter, Maureen Kelly, and Kelly’s infant son, Nicholas.
A lower court found him guilty of those crimes, but the Louisiana Supreme Court had cleared Robinson’s criminal convictions and his death sentencing, saying his right to due process was violated.
However, in a rare turn of events, the court released an opinion reversing that decision and reinstating that conviction.
