Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

There was damage, but fortunately there were no injuries in a late Thursday morning crash in Brookeland. It happened at about 11:40 on Highway 96 at Farm to Market 1007 - an intersection which has seen many accidents in the past. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark says Brenden Webster, 31, of Call, was driving a 2020 Dodge dually pickup truck and pulling a travel trailer southbound on Highway 96, while Clinton Smith, 50, of Kirbyville, was driving a 2021 Dodge pickup truck. Clark said Smith exited the crossover on Highway in an attempt to enter the parking lot of a business on the west side of the highway and struck the 2020 Dodge. This resulted in the travel trailer jack-knifing and rolling onto its side. Lake Rayburn Firefighters & First Responders remained on scene as a towing crew up-righted the trailer and cleared the highway.
