Cypress man arrested on traffic and felony drug charges

MARTHAVILLE, La. (KALB) - A man from Cypress was arrested on traffic and felony drug charges, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. NPSO deputies were patrolling on Hwy 120 near Marthaville on June 12 around 8:53 p.m., when they stopped a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck for a traffic violation. Ronnie Bradford, 36, was identified as the driver. Deputies said they smelled marijuana when they spoke with him, and they learned he did not have a driver’s license, no vehicle insurance and a switched license plate. NPSO deputies said Bradford became uncooperative, but when he realized deputies were about to use “necessary minimum force” to control him, he became compliant. He was then detained and a back up unit came to assist. During a search of the vehicle, NPSO found suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Bradford was arrested and transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center for possession of CDS schedule II methamphetamine, possession of CDS schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The narcotics will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis and identification, and the vehicle was impounded by a local towing service.
