HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Crockett woman is behind bars Thursday after the Houston County Sheriff’s Office said her five-year-old son ate THC gummies.
Kayla Delois Cook, 30, was arrested and held Thursday in the Houston County Jail on a warrant charging her with endangering a child, according to Sheriff Zak Benge.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office received a call concerning a lethargic child from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
An investigation uncovered that the child had eaten the gummies after gaining access to the drugs and was taken to a local hospital, according to Benge.
The sheriff’s office obtained a warrant for Cook after it was determined there was enough probable cause for her arrest, Benge said, noting the child recovered from their medical issues.
Charged with a state jail felony, Cook potentially faces between 180 days in jail to two years in prison if convicted.
