NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB) - A Red River Parish woman has been arrested on felony drug charges, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. On September 1, NPSO pulled over a truck near the intersections of US-71 and Kemp Street for a traffic violation. Deputies spoke with the 50-year-old Natchitoches man who was the driver of the vehicle, who they learned had his driver’s license suspended. His passenger, Dominique Nichole Castello, 24, of Coushatta, told deputies that she had a valid driver’s license. NPSO said they learned that Castello was wanted by the 10th Judicial District Court in Natchitoches for failure to appear in court on July 22, 2024, on the charges of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also wanted by the Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office for theft. Castello was placed under arrest without incident. Deputies said while speaking with Castello, they asked if she had any illegal items or weapons on her person for officer safety before transporting her to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. NPSO said she initially responded “no” but then reached into her shorts removing a cellophane bag containing 3.5 grams of suspected meth and a glass pipe commonly used to smoke meth. Castello was charged with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in the 10th Judicial District Court and Natchitoches City Marshal’s Office for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft. The driver was issued citations for equipment violations and driving under suspension.
