VERMILION PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A long-time Vermilion Parish corrections deputy has been fired after being indicted by a grand jury for sexual misconduct against an inmate, authorities said.
Roicey Trahan, an 11-year deputy with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, was reported by an inmate for alleged sexual misconduct, VPSO said.
Following an investigation by the District Attorney’s office, Trahan was indicted by a grand jury and fired from the sheriff’s office, VPSO said.
Earlier today, Trahan was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail and released on bond, according to jail records. His bond information was not available.
“Maintaining the safety, dignity, and rights of every individual in our custody is a fundamental responsibility of the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center,” Sheriff Eddie Langlinais said. “The conduct alleged in this case is a violation of our policies and the public trust that we cherish. When an employee’s actions fall short of those standards, we will take appropriate action to ensure the public’s trust in our agency is maintained.”
According to a Jan. 19 Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, Trahan served at the jail since 2014 and had last served as the supervisor of garden and litter abatement trustees. Prior to that, he served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard and began his career with VPSO in 2006 as a reserve deputy.
