Jasper firefighters responded to a neighborhood on the west side of town after a City of Jasper work crew accidentally ruptured a natural gas line. It happened shortly before the noon hour Wednesday at the intersection of Pearl Street and Timberlane Drive. No fire occurred, but the smell of the escaping gas permeated the air in the neighborhood. A crew from Centerpoint Energy was called upon to repair the pipe and stop the leak.
