The City of Newton on Thursday issued an urgent plea for residents to immediately check for busted water pipes. City officials said they noticed an abnormally high outflow of water on their end, indicating that there may be many water pipes that froze and burst open as a result of the frigid temperatures. If you don’t immediately notice any busted pipes under or around your house, you can look at your water meter to see if water is quickly flowing through it.
