Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are reporting that a child was injured when he was hit by a vehicle while walking along a county road near Buna late Thursday afternoon. Officers said the accident occurred shortly before 5:00 on County Road 642 when the child which was reported to be in the middle of the road was struck by a 2022 Dodge Ram medical van.
The report said the one year old child was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he was treated for what was said to be non-life threatening injuries and that the driver of the van, 56-year-old Terry Breaux of Buna was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
