The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department says one current and one former County Commissioner were among those who were busted in a recent raid of a cock fighting ring near Alto.
KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that current Morris County Commissioner Todd Freeman, and a former Houston County Commissioner, whose name was not released, were in attendance at the cock fights when deputies performed the raid.
The report said that one person was arrested, and approximately sixty citations were issued. Meanwhile, deputies said they seized ninety-seven cocks, all of which were ordered to be euthanized by a judge in order to protect the health of other animals.
