NATCHITOCHES, La. - Natchitoches Parish School Board is announcing some changes to its student handbook after Gov. Landry signed into law a bill that bans cell phone use in schools. SB207 states that any cell phone or additional communication devices must be powered off and put away for the entire school day if brought to the campus. The new NPSB student handbook states that for the first offense, the student's phone will be taken away for one day. For the second offense, their phone will be taken away for five days. For the third offense, the phone could be confiscated for up to seven school days and the student will face suspension. If it happens a fourth time, the student will be recommended for expulsion.
