Carthage ISD school board accepts superintendent’s resignation

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

CARTHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - An administrative change has occurred following a special-called school board meeting Monday night.

According to the district, Supt. Jarrod Bitter submitted his resignation to the board during that meeting. The resignation was expected.

Dr. Glen Hambrick, a former Carthage ISD superintendent and still a Carthage resident, has been appointed interim superintendent.

Bitter was voted in as superintendent of CISD in January 2022, replacing Superintendent John Wink. Bitter had been serving in Tyler ISD as assistant superintendent and executive director of school improvement prior to his hire at CISD.

The district has not stated why the resignation was submitted, nor has the superintendent.
