Capitol One Building in Lake Charles slated for Sat, Sep 7th demolition

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Lake Charles will soon see the demolition of the 22 story, 314 foot tall Capitol One Building. It's scheduled to be razed on Saturday, September 7th. Construction began in in 1981 and finished in 1982, and for the past 42 years the building dominated the downtown Lake Charles skyline. The building was severely damaged by Hurricane Laura in August of 2020 and has sat derelict ever since with many of its glass windows broken out. The Lloyd D. Nabors Company, which has offices in Dallas and Baton Rouge, has been contracted to perform the demolition project.
