Caddo Coroner IDs Man Shot by Police Following Chase

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A 27-year-old man died after a police chase through Caddo Parish and Shreveport Wednesday.

The shooting is now part of a joint investigation involving Shreveport police, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, and Louisiana State Police.

Coroner Todd Thoma identified the man Thursday as Trivenskey Odom of Shreveport.

Sheriff Steve Prator said that deputies began chasing the suspect around 5:30 p.m. because they believed the suspect was driving a stolen SUV.

The chase ended at Jewella Avenue and Greenwood Road.

Videos taken by witnesses at the scene showed multiple shots were fired at the SUV.

Prator said that the investigation will determine who hit the suspect. He added that it appears that all law enforcement members followed procedure.

Chief Ben Raymond and Prator both said that there were reports during the chase that the suspect was pointing a gun outside of his car.

No one else was in the car with the suspect, and no officers were hurt during the chase or shooting.

Raymond said they will be looking for any surveillance footage.

The investigation continues.
