Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby says he and his deputies were involved in a search for a missing special-needs youth over the weekend, and fortunately the juvenile was found safe. Burby says the 15-year-old boy was reported missing from Merryville, Louisiana, but there was a concern that he may have wandered across the Sabine River to the Texas side. Therefore, Burby said his department on Saturday concentrated their efforts to search for the youth along the Sabine River near the Highway 190 Bridge, and also in the Bon Wier area. According to Burby, the boy was later found in the Merryville area. Burby said he underwent treatment for dehydration but was otherwise ok.
