BOSSIER CITY, La. — Authorities are searching for a Bossier City man who has been missing for nearly a week after his vehicle was found abandoned in Texarkana, Ark.
Jonathan Bohrer, 39, was last seen by family members around 5 p.m. May 5, according to his father, Brian Bohrer.
Family members became concerned the following day after Bohrer’s dogs were found roaming loose and they were unable to contact him.
“A lady on Facebook found the dogs, and so my daughter called and said, ‘Hey, John’s dogs are out, and I can’t get in touch with him,’” Brian Bohrer said. “That’s when we basically discovered that he was gone.”
Bohrer’s family reported him missing May 7.
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, Bohrer’s vehicle was found abandoned Tuesday in the 200 block of East Street in Texarkana. Brian Bohrer said highway traffic cameras showed his son’s truck crossing the state line around 7 p.m. May 6.
“This is so bizarre,” he said. “We do not know anybody in Texarkana. He doesn’t know anybody in Texarkana, to my knowledge.”
Family members described Bohrer as outgoing and said he attended Word of God Ministries. Before his disappearance, he worked as an estimator for Terry’s Roofing and cared for two Labradoodles.
Brian Bohrer said his son struggled with anxiety but appeared to manage it well.
“He did struggle, like we all do, with anxiety and fear,” he said. “But he had seemed to handle it most of his life very well.”
The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation. Sgt. Matt Bertard said investigators have found no evidence of a crime and no clear motive for Bohrer’s disappearance.
“At this point in time, there’s no evidence that any crime has been committed,” Bertard said. “Right now, we just don’t have a whole lot to go off of.”
Authorities and the Bohrer family are asking anyone with information about Bohrer’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement.
