Crockett Police say a man who was already a registered child sex offender, and was wanted on a new charge of Sexual Assault of a Child, was arrested over the weekend. However, police say first they had to catch him after he ran from them. According to police, on Sunday afternoon they responded to a disturbance in an apartment complex and were told that “Booman” was involved. Police say his actual name is Vunterrious Leonard, age 25. When they spotted him, police say he fled on foot through a park. He was later apprehended with the help of a drone and a police K-9. Leonard has since been charged with Evading Arrest, along with his warrant for Sexual Assault of a Child. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety Sex Offender Database, Leonard was convicted in Houston County in March of 2022 on a charge of Sexual Assault of a Child. The victim was a 16-year-old girl. He received 8 years of probation.
