SHREVEPORT, La. -- A man accused of shooting and killing a Vivian police officer Friday night has been denied bond in his first court appearance.
Nicolas Alexander, 58, appeared Tuesday morning in Judge Ramona Emanuel’s court. He is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Officer Marc Brock, 25.
Brock and five other officers were serving search and arrest warrants in connection to a cyberstalking charge, when Alexander reportedly fired through the door of his trailer, striking Brock.
Alexander was accused of cyberstalking his brother, Randy, and wife Denise, who serves on the Vivian Town Council.
Alexander was given a court-appointed attorney and is currently being held at Caddo Correctional Center. His arraignment is set on Jan. 5.
Here's a look at Alexander's prior arrests and dispositions:
Jan. 8, 1991 – Simple battery
April 3, 1991 – Alexander pleaded guilty and was sentenced to pay $150 plus costs or serve 20 days in parish jail. In addition, he was sentenced to serve six months in the parish jail. The jail sentence suspended and placed him on unsupervised probation for one year.
Nov. 15, 1996 – Aggravated assault
Nov. 15, 1996 - Alexander pleaded not guilty. His case was continued to Feb. 20, 1997 for arguments, hearings and trial.
Feb. 20, 1997 – The Caddo Parish district attorney entered a dismissal
Dec. 8, 2008 – Domestic abuse battery
Jan. 19, 2010 – Alexander was found him guilty as charged. He was sentenced to pay $400 and court costs or serve six months in parish jail. Court ordered 10 days of sentence to be served without probation or suspension. The rest of the sentence was suspended and Alexander was placed on supervised probation for 18 months. He was given credit for time served.
May 21, 2010 – His probation was amended to unsupervised.
Oct. 28 – Cyberstalking
Oct. 29 – Fequest for docket number filed.
