Body of missing person found near Campti; foul play not suspected

NATCHITOCHES, La. -- The body of a man reported missing was found Wednesday in a wooded area near Campti, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright said Thursday in a news release. Deputies found Larry E. Page, 44, of Goldonna after searching the area near where his vehicle was found abandoned days earlier. Foul play is not suspected. Page's wife called deputies early Wednesday afternoon to report he had not been seen for several days. Other deputies recalled a complaint on Saturday that an abandoned car was found on a private deer lease road off Dufrene Road north of Campti. Deputies traced that car to Page. His wife picked it up. She was told then she could file a missing person report if she believed her husband was in danger. She chose not to at that time, saying she believed her husband was working in New Mexico. She received a text from him the week before, but she said at times he would be gone for several days. Later, Page's wife found her husband's wallet and call phone at home. She contacted some of his coworkers who said he had left the job. That's what prompted her to call the sheriff's office. Two deputies canvassed the area where the car was found and found Page's body and other items nearby in a partially cleared wooded area about 50 yards off the private deer lease road. The investigation is ongoing pending autopsy results.
