The Hardin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man’s body was found on Highway 96 just west of the Jasper County line.
Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis says the body was discovered at about 3:30 Thursday morning, just before the Neches River Bridge.
Davis says the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded because it was initially believed that it was a fatal auto-pedestrian accident.
However, Davis says that investigators in his department have taken over the case and they’re looking at all possibilities.
