KFDM in Beaumont is reporting that police have a suspect in custody following a motel shooting investigators say is linked to a 'prostitution transaction,' according to information provided by officer Haley Morrow. The victim was critically injured in the shooting at about 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Rodeway Inn off 11th Street and Interstate 10. Officer Haley Morrow tells KFDM a judge issued a warrant for the arrest of 20-year-old Demetrish Miles on a charge of Aggravated Assault. The BPD Special Assignment Unit took Miles into custody at about 11:35 a.m. Morrow says detectives have interviewed another man and two women police describe as persons of interest. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting was related to a prostitution transaction," says Ofc. Morrow. "Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues."
