Beaumont officers shoot and kill a man coming at them with a chainsaw

Beaumont Police say officers had to shoot and kill a man when he came after them with a chainsaw. It happened shortly after 8:00 Saturday evening on Harriot Street near Avenue E. According to Officer Hailey Morrow, officers were sent to a disturbance and once on scene they began talking to a man involved in the disturbance when another man wielding a chainsaw came up from behind. The man has been identified as 42-year-old Manuel Arteaga. Meanwhile, another man at the scene involved in the disturbance was arrested. He has been identified as Raul Arteaga, Jr., age 24. Police say he was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Aggravated Assault-Family Violence. Morrow says the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as the deadly shooting in investigated by the Beaumont Police Department, the Jefferson County District Attorneys Office, and the Texas Rangers.
