Buna ISD Superintendent Julie Motomura has announced that more bats have been discovered at Buna High School. She says the latest discovery is a colony living in the walls of some classrooms. This is the third discovery of bats occupying spaces at the school. The first discovery was in mid-December when a colony was found living in a space in the school district’s Activity Center. The second discovery was in early February when a colony was found living in the attic above the high school cafeteria. Motomura says after the latest discovery, the classrooms will be sealed off until the bats can be removed. Texas has thirty-three species of bats. At sunset they take flight and throughout the night they eat a massive amount of insects. They return to roost before sunrise and sleep through the day.
