SHREVEPORT, La. - Allegiant Air has launched new nonstop service between Shreveport Regional Airport and Nashville International Airport.
The low-cost carrier will operate flights on the new route up to twice weekly. Some one-way tickets are as cheap as $39.
"Today, this inaugural flight is the kickoff to our busy summer season here at Shreveport Regional. So we'll have Destin starting and then Orlando starting and going through the going through the summer. And those have been very popular through the years," airport Manager Larry Blackwell said.
"We ain't got to get out from Dallas or Atlanta or anywhere else. So it's better," said passenger Trey Hicks.
The addition marks Allegiant’s latest expansion in the region. Airline officials say the route aims to increase travel access between north Louisiana and central Tennessee.
Allegiant specializes in point-to-point service between smaller cities and popular destinations across the United States.
