All he wanted to do is go fishing

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Dillon Bailey of Holly Springs had a day off and all he wanted to do was catch a big mess of fish, but sometimes it just doesn't go the way you want it to. Dillon was in the process of loading his boat in the Angelina River just below the Highway 63 bridge, west of Jasper, shortly before noon when something happened and the boat, trailer and Chevrolet Tahoe rolled into the water. Almost immediately, the truck and trailer was out of sight but the boat floated downstream where it was recovered a short time later by Bailey who was assisted by a game warden from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife. Bailey was not the first to lose a vehicle there and he probably won't be the last, but he said he was glad that his children or anyone else was in the vehicle when it went down.
