TATUM, Texas (KLTV) - A Longview man arrested Saturday is accused of firing into a Tatum home where his two children were sleeping.
Brontravis Markeel Williams, 22, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of abandoning/endangering a child and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
The Tatum Police Department responded to the home around 12:47 a.m. Saturday where a woman told them Williams had shot into the home following a verbal argument, according to an arrest affidavit.
She said bullets passed through a room near the bed where a 6-month-old child was sleeping, with another 3-year-old child asleep in the living room, the affidavit states.
The officer found several bullet holes in the front window, bullets inside the home and shell casings outside.
The officer found Williams near Sterling Price and Hill Street with a firearm in his waistband, noticing the smell of alcohol, the affidavit states.
According to the arrest document, Williams refused to speak to the officer. He was later booked into the Rusk County Jail.
