KFDM in Beaumont is reporting that a child died and a driver was jailed following a three vehicle auto accident that occurred on Friday on the northeast side of Vidor.
Officers said the crash occurred shortly after 9:00 on Highway 12, near the intersection of Evangeline Drive.
Complete details are unknown, but it was later learned that a child riding in one of the vehicles, three year old Cooper Woodrome of Vidor had died despite the efforts of doctors to save his life. However, the child's mother, Katelynn Ann Woodrome is reported to still be undergoing treatment for what was said to be serious injuries at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Police said that based on evidence at the scene, the driver of one of the vehicles involved, Joseph Frank Green, 56, also Vidor was arrested and booked in to the Orange County Jail where he was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter With a Vehicle.
Bond on Green was set at $1 million by Orange County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Rodney Price and at last word the man who is said have two previous convictions for DWI, was still being held in the Orange County Jail.
Word is the mother and her son were traveling home after a fun day together when the tragic crash occurred.
