Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Monday that an investigation that began in late April had resulted in the arrest of a Buna man who is accused of having improper contact with a 6-year-old child.
Havard said the incident was alleged to have occurred at a home on County Road 871 and that based on information obtained in the investigation a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Daniel Parker, 20, who was charged with Indecency with a Child by Contact, which is a second-degree felony.
Havard said Parker was arrested at his workplace in Nederland by deputy David Lampman.
Havard said following his arrest, Parker was taken before Jefferson County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Justin Chesson where he was arraigned and bond was set at $100,000.
Havard thanked Judge Chesson for accommodating an arraignment before transporting Parker back across the river to Jasper County.
Additional details concerning the case have not been released but Havard said he and his staff were committed to combatting criminal activity and such crimes in Jasper County. However, he went on to say that the suspect was not guilty until proven in a court of law.
