A blowout on a three-wheeled motorcycle along Interstate 10 in Orange County turned deadly late Sunday morning, killing a man and a woman, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Shana Clark.
Sergeant Shana Clark with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred on Interstate 10, just east of Vidor, near Claiborne Park shortly before 11:00.
According to Clark, an investigation has so far revealed a Honda three-wheeled motorcycle towing a small trailer was traveling east when it sustained a blowout on the rear tire and struck the concrete barrier. Clark said the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger were both thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the bike, a 71-year-old man from Duson, Louisiana, died at the scene and his passenger a 69-year-old woman, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died a short time later.
Troopers have not released the names, pending formal notification of next of kin.
