SAN AUGUSTINE, Texas (KTRE) - The San Augustine Sheriff’s Department reports that four people have been arrested following an online solicitation sting.
Arrested were Scot Christnacht, 52, Cordarrel Cooksey, 35, Dominic Ian Joshua Ruiz, 23, and Brien Sullivan, 49. Each of the men were charged with online solicitation of a minor, and each has a bond of $1 million.
Christnacht and Ruiz also were charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, which carries a $5,000 bond.
According to Lt. Investigator David Haley, the sheriff’s department had partnered with a group that trains law enforcement in finding adults soliciting minors online for sexual activity. The training group, Covenant Rescue Group, worked with them and other departments to train as many officers in Deep East Texas as possible.
As a result of the training, the four suspects were allegedly caught messaging a person they thought was a 13-year-old in a sexual manner.
Involved in the undercover training and operation were San Augustine Sheriff’s Department, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, San Augustine Police Department, Center Police Department, Jasper Police Department, and Sabine County Sheriff’s Office.
