NATCHITOCHES, La. -- One person was injured this afternoon following a shooting on Saida Street, Natchitoches police said in a news release. Officers responded to the scene just before 2 p.m. and found a person suffering from a single gunshot. They began first aid until other first responders arrived. The victim was taken to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with what were described as minor injuries. The victim was expected to be released today from the hospital. While on scene investigators and officers canvassed the area for bullet casings and evidence connected to the shooting. All of the evidence collected will be sent to the crime lab for further analysis. This investigation is ongoing and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available.
