A 17-year-old is confirmed dead after a shooting in Beaumont early Wednesday morning.
Judge Ben Collins Sr. confirms the shooting victim was driving himself to an area hospital when he crashed into a Beaumont police cruiser. Judge Collins also confirms the victim was a black male born in 2008. He died at the hospital.
There is no confirmation where the shooting took place.
There is currently an active police investigation underway near the 4100 block of Maida Road in Beaumont. The scene has a heavy police presence and several people are being interviewed.
There was a shooting Tuesday around 5 P.M. on East Lucas Drive at the Food Basket Convenience Store. Witnesses said they saw teenagers exchanging gunfire.
