LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A man is behind bars after police say he shot and killed another man Friday in the 600 block of Chester Street in Lufkin.
Alex Dewayne Walker, 42, of Lufkin, was held Friday at the Angelina County Jail on a bond totaling $500,000 for a charge of murder, according to jail records.
Officers were dispatched to an initial disturbance call around 1:30 a.m. Friday, with one person at the scene yelling, “He shot my uncle,” according to police.
Walker was outside the home when officers arrived and laid on the ground, placing his hands behind his back. Officers found a 9mm handgun in his front pants pocket, a police spokesperson said.
Officers found a man identified as Korsah Lemar Simmons, 43, of Lufkin, on the floor of a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed Simmons to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Charged with a first degree felony, Walker could face five to 99 years, or life, in prison and up to $10,000 in fines if convicted.
