SEVEN OAKS, Texas (KTRE) - A person was found dead following a fire at a vacant motel in Polk County.
Multiple Deep East Texas fire departments responded the motel fire Tuesday in Seven Oaks at 3:46 a.m.
Livingston VFD Assistant Chief Josh Mohler said when firefighters responded, the fire was already fully involved at the 7 Oaks Inn, in the 12000 block of U.S. 59, and more departments were called in.
Crews were able to keep the surrounding area safe as the fire was contained to the old motel, according to the Corrigan Fire Department.
Mohler said the motel was no longer in business and had no running power, but a person living there was found dead by the Polk County fire marshal.
Responding agencies included the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Alabama‑Coushatta, Scenic Loop Fire Rescue, Onalaska Fire Department and Diboll Fire Department.
