1 arrested in connection with shooting incident in Troup

TROUP, Texas (KLTV) - Troup police responded to a report of shots fired on Saturday. According to a release from Troup Police Department, officers worked together with Smith County deputies to find several people involved in a shooting that was reported to have taken place within the city limits. The suspects were found at a residence off of Railroad Street, and police said they established a perimeter around the location before taking them into custody. Authorities said they “obtained vital information and potential evidence of other criminal activities within Smith County” while questioning the suspects. Officers also found several firearms. Latravion Deshunnlee Dewberry, 17, of New Chapel Hill, was booked into the Smith County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond has been set at $100,000. Police said additional suspects and charges are pending, and investigation into this case is ongoing.
