RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Rusk County Sheriff Johnwayne Valdez says an assault with a deadly weapon sent a man to the hospital Thursday afternoon. The man later died from his wounds, according to the sheriff. Sheriff Valdez says Earlie Williams, Jr., 46, has been arrested and charged with murder in the incident. He has been booked into the Rusk County Jail and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. The victim, Jermile Jimerson, 32, of Kilgore, died from injuries he received from sharp force trauma to his head and torso. Valdez says the aggravated assault occurred on CR 175, which is on the northern side of Rusk County. He said the wounds were from a sharp instrument. The victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital, but later died.
