1 arrested, 1 injured after Marshall shooting

MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - Police in Marshall have arrested one man after a shooting left another man injured Tuesday morning.

According to the Marshall Police Department, around 7:42 a.m., dispatch received reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Oak Street. A deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, who was close to the address, responded and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The police department said the deputy began emergency medical aid and provided a suspect description to dispatch. The victim was alert at the scene and identified the suspect as Kornelius Bell, 37, of Marshall, according to the MPD.

MPD officers, along with Harrison County Sheriff’s Office deputies secured the scene while the Marshall Fire Department arrived and assisted with medical care.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police department.

The MPD said Bell was located at a residence in the 300 block of Cedar Street and arrested without incident. The gun believed to have been used in the incident was recovered at the same location.

Bell has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and was booked into the Harrison County Jail.
