33,000 Pounds of Frozen Chicken Dumped when 18-Wheeler Loses Load

Highway 7 East is expected to be shut down for hours in Crockett following a wreck involving an 18-wheeler hauling frozen chicken.

The Texas Department of Transportation says an 18-wheeler wrecked and lost a load of frozen chicken about 5:50 a.m. Tuesday. The crash occurred on Highway 7 East, near South Loop 304 in Crockett.

About 33,000 lbs of frozen chicken were transported from the scene of the wreck to a landfill.

The driver reported they didn’t see an unmarked dump truck that was parked on the side of the road. The trailer then clipped part of the dump truck, which was slightly sticking out into the lane.

The roadway is expected to reopen in about four hours.
