The Pine Cone Bowl lived up its expectation Friday night in Pineland as the two teams battled it out toe to toe in the first half, but the Hemphill Hornets out scored the West Sabine Tigers 25-7 in the second half to take a 53-26 victory.
At the start of the 2nd half the Tigers took the kick-off, but only to have the Hornets return an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and that would increase their lead to 34-19 and on their way to the 53-26 Hornet victory.
The Tigers held an early 7-6 land at the 6:59mark of the first quarter.
The Hemphill Hornets will travel to Hunnington this Friday for a 7:30 kick-off.
The Hornets are now 1-1, while West Sabine falls to 0-2.
