In their first home game of the season, the Many Tigers opened up with an impressive victory over DeRidder Dragons last Friday night 34-13.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers offense put together a 72 yard drive in 9 plays as Jeremiah James, scored on a 5 yard rushing TD with 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter. James set up the drive on a 35 yard run earlier in the drive. Deacon LaFollette pat was good for the 7-0 lead, a lead they would maintain throughout the game.
With 5:46 remaining in the second quarter, the Dragons, they would put together a 69 yard drive in 10 plays as running back Dylan Vines scored from 3 yards out and the pat was good as the 2 teams tied up at 7 and 2:06 left in the second quarter.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Tigers would have to start at their own 21. James ripped off 13 yards, then 2 plays later, QB Hayden Evans hooked up with WR Trevor McClendon for a huge 36 yard completion for a first down at the Dragons 38. James carried for 8 to the 30, then on the next Hayden completed a pass to Jaxon Foster who would take it in for a 30 yard touchdown . LaFollette pat was good for a 14-7 lead at half.
Tigers would start third quarter play from their own 23. James ripped off runs of 9,8,7 to Tigers 47. Then Tylen Singleton, Wildcat formation, took the snap and power his way downfield for a 53 touchdown run with 10:31 remaining in the third quarter. LaFollette pat up the lead at 21-7.
On the Dragons next possession, they would put together a 5 play, 75 yards for a TD with 7:15 left in the third quarter. Pat failed so the Tigers lead stands at 21-13.
With 4:07, remaining in the third quarter, the Dragons, punting the ball away, pinned the Tigers back to their own 5. On a second down from the 7, Singleton, took the snap, and rocked the home crowd with a 93 yard touchdown run. The pat failed as the Tigers lead is now 27-13.
From this point on, the Tigers defense would take over.
With 2:04 remaining in the third quarter, the defense would force a fumble as the Tigers recovered at the Dragons 23. On the third play, James scored from 11 yards out and LaFollette pat now are up 34-13 with 1:07 left in the third quarter.
A swarming Tiger defense led by Garet Culverson held the Dragons to only 3 first downs in the fourth quarter , in providing the Tigers first win of the season.
