Many Tigers defeat Mansfield 42-13 — BDC archive

Last Friday night, the Many Tigers faced the Mansfield wolverines in a district game and it was also homecoming 2023, and in the end of this battle the Tigers registered a 42-13 victory.

The wolverines took it to the Tigers defense early as they drove 55 yards in 5 plays and capped the drive off with a 16 yard run for a 6-0 lead as the pat was good, so the wolverines up 7-0 with 7:58 remaining in the first quarter.

The Tigers quickly responded, as sr running back Jeremiah James led the Tigers downfield, with Tylen Singleton throwing a 24 td pass to Hayden Evans with 4:27 left in the first quarter. Deacon LaFollette added the pat, to tie the game up at 7.

But the wolverines trying to spoil the Tigers homecoming game answered quickly with a 53 rushing TD with 4:00 remaining in the first quarter. The pat failed, so Mansfield led once again 13-7.

With 2:03, remaining in the first quarter, Evans scored on a 1 yard td and with LaFollette pat, the Tigers were up 14-13, a lead they would not relinquish.

The wolverines would have a turnover on their next possession, as Jonas Hendrickson intercepted a wolverine pass at midfield and returned it 15 yards to the wolverines 35. It took the Tigers only a minute and 46 seconds for their third touchdown of the contest as James scored from the 5. LaFollette pat is good, it's now 21-13, 8:38 remaining in the second quarter.

Wolverines threaten midway of the second quarter, but the Tigers defense held Mansfield at the Tigers 13.

From the 13, Jeremiah James picked up 56 yards on first down,Evans picked up 4, then James polished off the drive on a 27 yard touchdown run. It only took the Tigers 3 plays to cover the 87 yard drive and also , the drive took only 1:01 . LaFollette pat was good for a 28-13 lead for the Tiger's. 5:27 remaining in the second quarter.

Mansfield intercepted a pass at the 40 with :35 left in the first half. On second down and 1 at the Tigers 31, the wolverines selected a pass play. On the pass, Ked Gosey of the Tigers intercepted the pass at the Tigers 20, and raced down the far sidelines for a 80 yard interception return for another Tiger touchdown, which came with only :14 left in the half. LaFollette pat is good and the Tigers take a 35-13 lead at halftime.

The second half, the Wolverines would start their drive at their own 5 yard line. But the Wolverines made a strong outing, picking up 4 first downs in the drive, but were forced to punt with 5:39 remaining in the third quarter. The Wolverines held the ball for 6:21 on the drive, but came up empty in trying to put points on the board.

The Tigers would close out the scoring for the night when Singleton cruised in from 7 yards out to put the Tigers lead up 41-13, with 10:34 left in the game as LaFollette pat gave the Tigers their final points of the night and a 42-13 victory.

On offense, the Tigers had 333 total yards. Individually, Jeremiah James had 232 yards rushing 2 touchdowns and 37 yards in receiving.

QB Hayden Evans had 74 all purpose yards, 2 touchdowns. Ty Singleton had 63 all purpose years 2 touchdowns, 1 rushing and throwing a touchdown pass.

Defensively, the Tigers were led by Singleton who had 22 tackles, Ked Gosey, 13 tackles 1 interceptions that he returned 80 yards for a touchdown. J.J. Anderson, 10 tackles, 1 sack. Omarious Davis, Landon Sepulvado, and Chris Williams had 8 tackles. Jonas Hendrickson , 5 tackles, 1 1nterception of 15 yards . The Tigers defense held Mansfield offense to 318 total yards.

The Many Tigers will be back on their home turf again this Friday as the Winnfield Tigers come to town in a district game. Both teams are 1-0 in district. Game time 7:00
