Wooden pallets burned outside of Buck Springs Water Company

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A large pile of wooden pallets along with what may have been plastic or rubber burned late Tuesday morning outside of Buck Springs Water Company on Highway 96 North. The Jasper Fire Department was dispatched out at 11:06 and arrived 23 minutes later to find that not only was the pile burning, but the flames had also reached the nearby trees and brush. The Lake Rayburn Fire Department arrived about a minute behind Jasper and both departments quickly extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, the fire was not close enough to the company’s building to cause an issue. It was, however, within several feet of a propane tank which caused some concern, but the tank never heated up. There’s no word on how the fire may have started.
