Multiple witnesses say a woman ran a red light and her SUV was then hit by an 18-wheeler. It happened shortly before 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 190 at Farm to Market Road 252 in Jasper. Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster has identified the woman as 40-year-old Amy Elizabeth Foster, of Jasper. The series of events that led up to the wreck are reported to have began on College Street where an Allegiance EMS crew said they were dispatched to an unknown medical problem. The crew said as they were arriving, Foster was leaving in a Chevrolet Suburban and almost hit their ambulance. Other witnesses said they saw Foster traveling upwards of 100-miles-per-hour southbound on Marvin Hancock Drive. They said that when she came upon stopped traffic at the Highway 190 red light she went around the traffic, ran the red light, and was then hit by the 18-wheeler which was eastbound on Highway 190. Jasper police officers said that when they arrived at the scene, the woman fought them until they could get her detained and in the back of a patrol SUV. Chief Foster said the woman was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital to be evaluated and a mandatory blood draw would be performed to determine whether she had alcohol or drugs in her system. KJAS later learned that following her treatment or examination at Jasper Memorial, Foster was taken to the Jasper County Jail where she was expected to be charged with resisting arrest.
