Beech Grove Firefighters & First Responders along with Allegiance EMS responded Tuesday afternoon to a residence just west of Jasper where it was reported that a woman was found on the floor of her kitchen with her arm trapped underneath a dishwasher. The call came in shortly after 3:00 at a location on Farm to Market Road 3414 in the Westlake Community. Beech Grove Assistant Fire Chief Leonard Johnston was first on scene and he was able to remove the woman’s arm from under the appliance. She was then transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then flown by medical helicopter to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Johnston said the woman, who was approximately 50 years of age, apparently experienced a sudden and serious medical problem which caused her to fall. He said it’s believed that she had been trapped in that position for at least 2 to 3 hours, if not longer, until she was discovered by someone who called 911.
