The Texas Department of Public Safety says a woman fled from a state trooper near Kirbyville on Monday evening and remains at-large. According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, it happened shortly after Trooper Calvin Starkie responded at about 9:00 to a report of a crash at the intersection of County Roads 404 and 407. Sergeant Clark said as Trooper Starkie was investigating the accident, the suspect passed by the scene in a 2001 Toyota Avalon and ran a stop sign. Clark said after stopping the woman, the trooper found in the vehicle crystal methamphetamines and a syringe filled with suspected liquid methamphetamines. Clark said at that point the driver took off running on foot and managed to elude capture. Sergeant Clark said the identity of the driver is known and they will be seeking arrest warrants for her.
