For years, people have been warned to not point lasers at aircraft. Apparently, a woman in the Shreveport area didn’t get that memo and she was arrested after allegedly pointing a laser at a police helicopter. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department says a helicopter crew from the Baltimore, Maryland Police Department had been in Shreveport at Metro Aviation on Tuesday for training purposes when the cockpit was lit up by the laser during a night flight. The department says the pilot trained the helicopter’s spotlight on the suspect until deputies arrived at her location in Blanchard, just northwest of Shreveport, and took her into custody along with Blanchard Police. She has been identified as 44-year-old April Poitras, and she was charged with one count of Unlawful Aiming of a Laser at an Aircraft.
