WINNSBORO, Texas (KLTV) - A Winnsboro High School student has died after attending a weekend fishing tournament. Kale Robinson was a junior at Winnsboro High School and member of the Winnsboro Fishing Team. He was competing at a tournament at Lake Cypress Springs on Saturday when he was rushed to a hospital after passing out during a weigh-in. School officials said he passed away after being taken to the hospital. Texas High School Bass Association, who hosted the tournament, wrote a statement of sympathy and support: “Kale was an avid fisherman, and had fished with THSBA for 3 years. We find some solace in knowing that Kale was surrounded by friends and family, doing what he loved, and even catching his personal best. We are just so deeply sorry for the loss of this incredible young man who had a bright future ahead of him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We ask for the continued prayers of Kale’s family, friends, and Winnsboro Fishing Team as we all grieve during this difficult time. To Kale’s parents, grandparents, and all that knew and loved him, we are truly sorry for your loss and you have our deepest sympathies.” Winnsboro ISD officials said that local church youth pastors and all school counselors will be made available for students on Monday should they need or want additional support.
