The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department were dispatched to Ole Miller's Grocery, about 4 miles north of Jasper on Highway 96, shortly before 4:00 on Wednesday afternoon, when it was reported that an early model Ford Ranger pickup truck was on fire.
The firemen arrived at the scene to find the engine compartment of the vehicle completely engulfed in flames and the fire quickly spreading to the cab of the truck.
The owner of the Ford, Russel Courtney of Jasper said he had stopped at the store to pick up several items and was in the process of leaving, when the truck caught fire.
Firemen had the fire out within a short time but the vehicle was a complete loss. However, no injuries resulted from the incident.
